It's official, music icon PAUL WELLER has confirmed that he will be headlining the Sea Sessions Surf Music festival in Bundoran on June 26th. The man behind the Jam, Style Council, and a personal array of solo success such as Wildwood and more, is a major coup for the festival just in its third year.

'To get a name like Paul Weller to play in Bundoran is just amazing', said Festival organiser Declan Madden.'It shows the popularity of the festival not just with the public but also within the music industry'.

Weller will be headlining the Main Marquee on Saturday the 26th on the main beach in Bundoran. Along with hits from the Jam era, he will also be showcasing his new album 'Wake up the nation' which debuted in the Irish Top Ten this week!

Speaking about the new material getting its Irish Debut at Sea Sessions, Madden exclaims;

'Its great timing as he is pushing some new material at the moment and it is really fresh - I think there will be even more interest than normal in this gig'.

The Sea Sessions gig will be the First Irish gig of the Weller tour dates and as such is sure to be a full house.

'We have a limited capacity because of the size of the site and tickets have already been selling very well for this year without us announcing the full line up'.

GET YOUR GROOVE ON:
No strangers to main stages or Irish audiences, New York trio the FUN LOVING CRIMINALS will bring their raucous show to the festival playing an epic set of hip-hop beats, alternative style and bluesy rhythm! They will treat fans to red-hot hits including “Love Unlimited, Korean Bodega” and “Scooby Snacks” headlining the Main Stage on Friday 25th June.

They started out on the streets of Chicago and New York, and now they take their stylistic cues of jazz, funk, hip-hop and world music to the fine sandy shores of Bundoran – The HYPNOTIC BRASS ENSEMBLE (an 8-strong cohort of horn playing brothers) will entertain Donegal from the Main Stage on Saturday 26th June.

'The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble are one of the most exciting acts we have confirmed - they are an 8 piece brass band that just totally rock! Go and check them out you wont be disappointed'.

DANCE YOUR PANTS OFF:
While the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble will be warming up the stage for Mr Weller, THE TROJAN SOUND SYSTEM, a legendary reggae outfit in their own right, will be kicking off the main marquee on Saturday. Formed in 2004 from London Sound System legends, Trojan Sound System has already had hugely successful shows as a single entity and with the greatest names in reggae.

Born in Belfast the youngest of ten children, DAVID HOLMES began DJ-ing at the age of 15. His sets at pubs and clubs around the city during the following years embraced a range of grooves including soul-jazz, mod rock, Northern soul, and disco. Holmes is among the best in a growing cadre of invisible-soundtrack producers, responsible for feature-film soundtrack Ocean's Eleven and it’s hit single Elvis Presley's "A Little Less Conversation," (as remixed by Junkie XL). Holmes returns to the Green Isle to grace the main stage at Sea Sessions on Sat 26th.

CHILL OUT:Singer-Songwriter, TOM BAXTER will be immersing himself in local culture for three days having also confirmed a live performance at Donegal’s ground breaking Sea Sessions Surf and Music Festival. Baxter, whose 2008 album “Skybound” held the number one slot in Ireland for three weeks and was one of the best selling albums of the year, will perform live at the Marquee on the Beach in Bundoran on Sunday, June 27th.

REPRESENT:
Bringing a taste of “home-grown” to Sea Sessions 2010, local Irish talent will be strongly represented with live performances from CATHY DAVEY, THE FRANK AND WALTERS, DIRECTOR, JAMES VINCENT MCMORROW, CODES, O EMPEROR and THE HEATHERS to mention a few. Dubliner Davey will bring a sense of blues and ambient electronic sounds to her set, while Cork natives The Frank & Walters’ uplifting pop/rock sounds always promise a great live show. Platinum-selling Dublin foursome, Director will treat fans to over an hour of their biggest hits including “Come With a Friend, Leave It To Me” and “Reconnect” while critically acclaimed newcomers McMorrow, Codes and O Emperor have all been tipped as “one’s to watch” throughout 2010.

TAG, YOU’RE IT!:
Not only is the festival offering a vast selection of musical gems to cater to the avid music lover, Sea Sessions 2010 will also see the inclusion of activities and displays for those who fancy taking time-out from the stomping crowd pleasers. Participation activities provided by “RELENTLESS” will include a SKATE COMPETITION at the Festival Skate Area, a MOUNTAIN BIKE ASSAULT COURSE and a TAG RUGBY TOURNAMENT. For those who prefer to remain less active and soak up the sea air in stunning surrounds, BMX and POWER BOAT RACING DISPLAYS are set to entertain and amuse.

Media partner Today FM will be bringing the atmosphere of the event to the massses with DJ “KC” broadcasting LIVE from 2-4pm on Sat 26th June.

SURF’S UP!:
In just its 3rd year, the festival is sure to see Ireland’s surfing and festival fans flock to Bundoran, Co. Donegal for the country’s leading surf, skate and music festival. This June the seaside resort of Bundoran will once again be alive with the sound of great tunes and thumping surf as the cream of Irish Surfing Talent descend on the resort for an eclectic mix of music and surfing.

The QUIKSILVER Expression Session Competition is designed to allow Ireland’s foremost surfers the freedom to really “go for it” and bust big moves! Sea Sessions is stoked to welcome Quiksilver as the sponsor of its Expression Session Competition and for the lucky winner, have announced a 5 day holiday for two people to the “Quiksilver Pro” surf event in the South of France. Not only will the winner get the opportunity to enjoy 5 days of tube-riding, high performance waves and big surf possibilities, they will also be entered as a Wild Card entrant to the WQF, the Surfing WORLD QUALIFYING SERIES, where they will get the opportunity to showcase their best moves and daring stunts alongside the worlds surfing elite!

The event will be based on the best moves and won’t be limited by normal competition boundaries”, said Pete Craig of Bundoran Surf Company. “This means it is a lot more fun to watch than standard format events for non surfers”.
